The chief lieutenant of Nerja’s Guardia Civil barracks was hospitalised with a pelvic injury last week following a “fortuitous” accident involving a car driven by a former town councillor. The vehicle’s driver, 77-year-old Expedito Cabra, collided with the officer at a traffic control point on the access roundabout to playa Burriana. The driver said he had been “distracted.”
