The regional health service confirmed last week that La Herradura will not have its own ambulance. It said that cover from Almuñécar is “only five minutes away.” Almuñécar’s deputy mayor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, complained that in summer these vehicles have to cover a population of 100,000 spread over Otívar, Lentegí, Jete, Torrecuevas, La Herradura and Almuñécar.
