New €50 bank notes came into circulation on Tuesday. They follow new €5, €10 and €20 notes and retain the colour of the existing €50 note but boast a range of security features to thwart the production of fakes and help the public identify genuine examples. According to the European Central Bank, there are presently more fake €50 banknotes is circulation than any other denomination.
