A Madrid court has ordered BBVA bank to return €139,000 to a British man who had paid a developer in 2003 for the purchase of a home in Marbella that it was unable to deliver because it had been built with an illegal licence. The developer later went bankrupt, but the court ruled that the bank where the payments had been held is responsible for guaranteeing such deposits.
