The public prosecutor has requested an 18-month extension of the criminal investigation into the 2012 Costa wildfire that scorched more than 8,000 hectares in six towns and left two people dead. The request is due to the complexity of the case and the large number of affected parties. After the fire a gardener was arrested for allegedly starting the blaze when trying to burn trimmings on a property in Coín.
