A lifeguard was injured in Nerja on Sunday when the vigilance tower he was working in collapsed on Burriana beach. The 23-year-old fell four metres to the sand and suffered severe bruising to his right leg. The wooden supports of the tower appeared to have failed and orders were given for an immediate safety inspection of all other such structures on the town’s beaches.
