Júzcar’s walls are to be redecorated with images of the The Smurfs, and local stores are to start selling official merchandise, after an agreement was signed between the town hall and IMPS, the company managing the brand’s rights, that will see 12% of profits going to the family of creator Pierre Culliford. Júzcar’s mayor Francisco Lozano said IMPS had previously issued a warning about unauthorised image use and the illegality of unofficial merchandise.
