The HMS Ambush returned to the UK on Thursday July 28, after spending ten days in Gibraltar following a collision which saw the nuclear-powered submarine suffer external damage. Initial plans to repair the sub on the rock were changed and it headed home, accompanied by police and Royal Navy ships and two tugs. The HMS Ambush was disarmed of its torpedoes and missiles before departure.
