Spain’s foreign affairs minister, Alfonso Dastis, met with the EU’s Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier last week and told him that his government wanted to achieve the “best possible agreement” with the UK upon its departure from the EU – but added that there should be a new agreement over Gibraltar if the UK wants the territory and its people to have a “relationship with Spain”. In a radio interview, Dastis added that Spain would have a “constructive attitude” towards negotiations.
