The Finance Ministry has launched an investigation into who paid for 200 Catalan mayors to travel to Belgium on November 7 on a chartered flight. They went to Brussels to support their former president, Carles Puigdemont, who fled there following Cataluña’s illegal declaration of independence on October 27. The ministry says the mayors cannot charge the cost of their return trip to their town halls.
