Consumer group FACUA says the Energy Ministry should protect users, claiming that they spent an average 18.4% more on electricity in April, compared with 12 months earlier. It says the government’s “complacent” attitude permitted the “electrical oligopoly” to increase profits by 9% to over €5,463 million last year. FACUA also wants IVA on energy to be reduced from 21% because it is an essential service.
