David Davis, the UK’s secretary of state for exiting the European Union, was in Madrid on Tuesday where he paid a courtesy visit to Spain’s foreign minister, Alfonso Dastis. There was no official statement provided on the content of the meeting, which came just a day after Mr Davis was in Brussels for the formal launch of the Brexit negotiations with Michel Barnier, the lead EU negotiator in the process.
