Nerja’s local police say that owners of potentially dangerous dogs must register them with the town hall. The owner is the only person allowed to exercise the animal, which must be taken out individually. Liability insurance is mandatory, and such dogs must be muzzled in public and cannot be let loose. Breeds include those with strong musculature, or any dog that weighs over 20 kilos.
