The opposition Partido Popular in Mijas has accused the town hall of poor management of the local police department, citing government data showing crimes were up 12.6% in the town in the first quarter this year compared to Q1 last year, with home robberies up by 77%. The town hall hit back saying the PP is criticising local police over crimes that are not within their jurisdiction, but that of the National Police or Guardia Civil.
