Torremolinos town hall is this month carrying out a prevention campaign against pine processionary caterpillars, a pest whose fine hairs can cause allergic reactions in people and can be dangerous to dogs that inhale or ingest them. Pine trees are being treated with an injected pesticide, while a follow-up campaign will be carried out in late winter or early spring, when the caterpillars typically come down from their tree nests to the ground.
