The extreme left Catalan CUP party is equally split on whether Artur Mas should remain as regional leader. On Sunday, members of the party, which won ten seats in recent regional elections, bizarrely voted by 1,515 to 1,515 on whether or not to support him. If no regional leader can be elected by January 9, a new election will have to be held in Cataluña.
