Brussels has told Spain it must implement budget cuts of €8 million this year and next. However, the EC has postponed fining Madrid up to €2 billion for missing its deficit targets until after the June 26 elections. Despite this, acting PM Rajoy recently told the Financial Times he will lower taxes if his Partido Popular is returned to government re-elected next month.
