Barcelona has failed in its bid to be the new home of the European Medicines Agency, news which Madrid has described as “direct damage” caused by the Catalan independence row. Instead, the agency will move from London to Amsterdam following Brexit. Health Minister Dolors Montserrat said politics had outweighed the strength of the Barcelona bid.
