Spanish firm Talgo has won a contract from Renfe to produce 15 new high-speed AVE trains, with an option on a further 15, against competition from CAF, Alstom and Siemens. The initial deal, which includes 30 years maintenance of the units, came in over 28% below the maximum set by the rail operator. With the option, the total contract value would be just under €1.5-billion.
