Reports suggest the parents of a young girl who made repeated appeals for cash to pay her medical bills could have defrauded over €1.2 million from the public. Catalan police previously estimated the total at €960,000 of which the Lleida couple spent at least €600,000 on unrelated goods and services. The father remains in custody while the 11-year-old is in the care of an aunt.
