2015’s word

The non-profit Foundation of Current Spanish has chosen “refugee” as its word of 2015. It was chosen from 200 suggestions and enjoys the support of the Royal Spanish Academy. Last year, the Foundation chose “selfi,” an adaptation of “selfie,” and in 2013 selected “escrache,” a term imported from South America which had come to mean a demonstration outside the home or office of a politician.
