MARBELLA is the number two city in Spain for revenues from the luxury sector – behind only Barcelona and well ahead of Madrid – according to a study by Luxury Spain, the association representing the sector.
This year the Costa’s famous ‘jet-set’ resort – with luxury hubs including Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile – saw some 1.56 billion euros in luxury spending, making up 27.5 per cent of the national total, according to the report.
List-topping Barcelona made up 32 per cent, with 1.82 billion euros, while Madrid came in third, representing 16 per cent of luxury sales nationwide with 909 million euros.
