CONSTRUCTION work to improve the A-377 road between Manilva and Gaucín could begin before the end of the year, after the tendering of the contract for the long-awaited project was revealed last week by the Junta de Andalucía.
The Junta’s development minister, Felipe López, met with the mayors of towns affected by the road at Manilva town hall last week to present details of the project, which will renovate the badly potholed and damaged road. Work is scheduled to start in November, with construction expected to take 18 months to complete. The total cost of the project is 6.5 million euros.
López said that the road repairs “reflect the need to act to ensure the road safety of the 1,500 people who use the route daily,” and added that an analysis of accident rates, in addition to requests from the mayors of towns served by the road, had influenced the Junta’s decision to move forward with the project.
