Former Marbella councillor Carlos Fernández, who had been a fugitive from justice since fleeing in 2006 when he was about to be arrested in the Malaya corruption case centred on Marbella town hall, was detained in Argentina last Friday. However, he could escape charges if it is determined that the statute of limitations has run out.
