CHAMBERMAIDS have held a demonstration in Málaga calling for an end to sub-contracting their work. They say external contractors force them to work in conditions of “slavery” with unpaid hours and prejudice to their retirement benefits.
The protest was part of a summer campaign by a group called Las Kellys (based on ‘las que limpian,’ the women who clean) in which they have undertaken to “name and shame” hotels and others who employ people in “inhumane conditions”.
