Former Mijas mayor and current Partido Popular councillor Ángel Nozal last week testified before a Fuengirola court that is investigating alleged irregularities in the town hall’s auctioning off of an embargoed property. He defended his actions, stating that he signed off on the auction after it had
already been approved and signed by town hall legal advisors.
The case involves a home that was embargoed from its owners over a debt of around €20,000 to the town hall, and was put up for auction in 2011 with an assessed value of €368,000 and sold for €110,000.
