A former Guardia Civil officer was arrested on Monday in relation to the murder of a woman in Alhaurín de la Torre in 2008. He is the second person arrested after the alleged killer was detained a week earlier.
The man arrested this week was a member of the Coín Guardia Civil force at the time of the crime but later left the force, said Guardia Civil officials.
In April of 2008 the victim was found dead with her throat cut in the swimming pool at a property known as Finca Los Naranjos, where she lived but where her ex-partner also operated a refuge for animals seized by the Guardia Civil’s Seprona environmental unit.
The ex-partner, M.A.H., had initially been investigated as a suspect for the murder, but the case was shelved after he gave what investigators described as an “ironclad” alibi showing he was not in Alhaurín at the time.
