GUARDIA Civil environmental service officers were unable to save a dying loggerhead turtle at Playa del Conde in Torre de la Horadada.
Torrevieja town hall biologist Juan Antonio Pujol revealed that sadly the reptile died from decompression sickness, also known as the bends, shortly after being rescued.
