A young man accused of stealing from ‘distracted’ bathers at a packed Torrevieja beach has been arrested by local police officers.
The incident occurred at Playa de los Locos at the weekend.
A number of beachgoers reported that their wallets and mobile phones had been taken, and officers were able to detain the 21-year-old suspect, according to a local police spokesman.
He added that officers from the force will continue to watch over the beaches during the summer ‘so that users and tourists feel safe and can enjoy the bathing season’.
