A loggerhead turtle attempted to lay its eggs at La Mata beach at the weekend – but returned to the sea after she was disturbed by human activity.
Torrevieja town hall biologist Juan Antonio Pujol asked people to be aware that the turtle could return to coast in the coming days.
Turtles need peace and quiet to nest successfully and are likely to abandon any attempt to lay their eggs if they are disturbed.
