The so-called tourist tax (tasa turística) was presented by the ruling coalition in the regional parliament in Valencia this week.
Town halls will be able to decide whether to charge the tax on stays made by tourists in accommodation in their municipality.
The charges already exist in Cataluña and the Balearics, and other parts of Europe.
