Torrevieja local police will be carrying out 16 ‘random’ drink/drug checks on drivers between this week and June 2, according to the town hall.
The checkpoints will be set up at undisclosed locations in the municipality.
Councillor for safety and emergencies, Federico Alarcón said the local force is participating in a country-wide campaign which is being operated by the national traffic department (DGT).
