A cut-off low pressure weather system – known as a ‘gota fría’ or DANA in Spanish – has been bringing snow, storms and torrential rain to many parts of the country.
Between 03.00 and 06.00 on Tuesday, storms required Elche local police to intervene 20 times – a small tornado ripped out a window from petrol station in El Altet and hail blocked some streets (see photo).
