Five people were rescued after their boat overturned in heavy seas on Saturday close to Arenales del Sol beach in Elche.
Red flags were flying on many Costa Blanca beaches that day as strong easterly winds whipped up the waves and currents.
One of the sailors was pulled out of the sea by an off-duty firefighter.
