A special operation has been launched by the national traffic department (DGT) for one of the busiest holiday weekends on the roads of the year.
Coinciding with the bank holiday today (August 15), the DGT predicted that 7.8 million long-distance car journeys would be made by motorists over the period until midnight on Sunday (August 18).
