Dear Sir
I have read recently that Torrevieja town council believe that the transfer of the street market to its new location near the sports centre has been a success. They are obviously ignoring the fact that the traffic in that vicinity grinds to a halt on Friday mornings.
Specifically, the traffic on the road that goes from the CV905 (Crevillente) towards the Aqua Park going past the Habaneras shopping centre on the left stops completely. Having just turned left onto this road and trying to get to a garage on Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, the traffic was stationary and you could see the queue tailed back over the N332 flyover.
I stayed there for a few minutes but the traffic was hardly moving. There was no obvious escape as to return to the main road you had to get down to the roundabout to turn around.
The only other way was to turn right further down this road and get back to the roundabout on the main road via a car wash forecourt.
They obviously have this problem every Friday morning as they have placed a ‘No entry except for car wash customers’ sign at the entrance.
I have no idea what the problem is as I have not been to the market. I can only surmise that they cannot get the cars into the market car park quickly enough.
The council need to look at this problem urgently as it will get much worse at the height of the holiday season.
Regards
A. Fisher
