Many thanks for the clear information that a ‘Carta de Invitacion’ stamped and sealed by the Spanish National Police is not needed for visiting British friends or relatives, and that more informal information about the address during the visit and date of return flight will suffice.
I think I will cover it by providing my visitors with a photocopy of my TIE residence card and the original of an up to date ‘padrón’ certificate from the local town hall.
Your help in this and many other technical issues that affect resident Brits is much appreciated.
