I would just like to say how much I enjoyed and agreed with the sentiments expressed in the British Scene about Michael Howard and his comments on Gibraltar and war with Spain. It is refreshing to see such subjects dealt with using humour and irony, rather than the sort of bullying and jingoistic nonsense that is printed in rags such as The Sun and Daily Express, etc.
Your contributor summed up the situation very well, capturing the ‘mad cow disease’ of Brexit that seems to have infected some sectors of the country and turned many people’s minds to jelly in the UK. I really am very glad that I live in Spain and don’t have witness the breakdown of a formally tolerant and savvy nation first-hand.
