Valencia now has more protected ‘monumental’ trees than any other region in Spain.
The regional government announced that their updated protection catalogue contains 271 new incorporations, taking the total to 2,439.
These are unique and usually very old trees which have often grown to a great height – ancient species of flora which are important for biodiversity.
