NHS HEALTH chiefs have written to expats in Spain to update them on arrangements regarding healthcare and pensions after the UK leaves the European Union on October 31.
People who have their healthcare paid for by Britain under the ‘S1’ scheme are being sent the correspondence; which also outlines arrangements for state pensions after Brexit – and warns the EHIC card may not cover health cover when travelling to other EU countries.
The letter is signed by Michael Brodie, chief executive of the NHS Business Services Authority, and “provides important information about your access to healthcare”.
