BENIDORM’S beaches are incorporating ColorADD codes on flags and information panels that will allow colour-blind people to interpret the sea conditions easily.
Councillor for beaches, Mónica Gómez explained that the code is a ‘graphic system for identifying colours so that they are distinguished by people with colour blindness’.
Under the system, a diagonal bar with a triangle pointing to the right represents green, the central diagonal bar yellow and a triangle to the left is red, she noted.
Mayor Toni Pérez hoisted the first flag on Mal Pas beach on Monday.
He said it is ‘one more commitment to the inclusion and accessibility of Benidorm’s beaches’.
