Benidorm mayor Toni Perez has told reporters this weekend that Benidorm beaches will not open until all new security and hygiene measures can be guaranteed, and he estimates this will not happen until at least June 15. Although beaches in the region can begin opening to the general public for leisure from this Monday under phase two lockdown exit plan terms, the resorts’ beachs will remain closed.
Sr Perez has announced that once beaches do open, there will be set morning and afternoon schedules and they will close at midday and at night for desinfection of sunbeds and other elements and to guarantee the usual capacity is limited to the 50% set by lockdown exit conditions.
Distances of at least two metres between people will be compulsory, there will be specific access points to enter and leave the beach, and a four-metre area along the shore will be established to avoid crowding.
