The regional government has confirmed that since the first cases were reported, 383 people contracted Covid-19 in Benidorm of whom 66 died. Authorities say the initial ‘floating’ population of elderly people on vacation in the area accounted for many of the cases and deaths over the first weeks. Meanwhile, Torrevieja, has reported 39 deaths and 255 cases so far.
