The Valencia government has banned the burning of agricultural waste in the countryside until October 15 after the practice allegedly caused two huge infernos in Jávea and Tárbena – fires which stated on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Regional president Carlos Mazón said the measure has been brought in immediately and came into effect on Monday.
It covers the burning of farming and forestry waste and the margins of field crops.
