Archaeological excavations began again at La Alcudia in Elche on Monday, which are being carried out by Alicante university (UA).
The site contains prehistoric, Iberian, Roman, Visigoth and Byzantine remains.
UA vice-rector of research Rafael Muñoz Guillena said: “We are convinced that this new campaign will succeed so that we can know more about our past and better understand it.”
