A fire in the roof of the terminal building led to a 24-hour closure of Alicante-Elche airport.
The blaze started at around 14.00 on Wednesday for as-yet unknown reasons and the airport was evacuated at 14.30.
State airport operator Aena announced at 12.30 today (Thursday) that flights would start to operate ‘progressively’ from 14.00 as the fire was ‘completely under control’.
