A project to pave part of Turre high street has been scuppered after the council’s coalition partners – the Socialist PSOE party – failed to attend an official meeting to rubber stamp the scheme.
Mayor Martin Morales had pledged to begin work on the 800-metre sidewalk by the start of this month, but the plan appears to have fallen at the first hurdle as it requires the backing of the entire council administration and the signatures of the ruling PSOE councillors.
