A Moroccan man wanted in connection with the death of his 45-day-old son has been arrested in Níjar shortly before he attempted to flee the country on a high-speed boat, the Guardia Civil have revealed.

Police launched a manhunt on June 24 after Hicham Bourass Bourjel, 35, fled his home address in a Campohermoso urbanisation following a violent argument with his 20-year-old wife. During the row the couple’s month-and-a-half-old baby, Abdel, suffered severe head injuries and subsequently died at the local medical centre.
