The Guardia Civil last week raided a fortress-like building in Cuevas del Almanzora as part of a nationwide operation to smash a major prostitution ring.
During the operation, which was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday morning (November 28), up to 13 Nigerian women – some believed to be underage girls – who had allegedly been forced into prostitution were also freed.
The raid in the Realengo neighbourhood was planned from Madrid and involved scores of officers – some on horseback – as well as a helicopter equipped with heat-sensing cameras. The operation took place in secrecy as local police had not been informed of the raid.
