The Auan property rights association has created a new national award to mark the second anniversary of its success in changing the law to protect the rights of house buyers.
Two years ago, on March 11, the Spanish senate passed the ‘compensation first’ amendment to the law following a campaign by the Auan to ensure good faith purchasers of illegal properties received compensation prior to any demolition of their home.
The ‘Justice in Urban Planning Prize’ aims to recognise people or organizations that make a “significant contribution to defending citizens’ human rights in the area of urban planning”, according to the Auan.
